Welcome back. I know that this week is not going to be what some of you expected but I hope that you are all ready for some more exciting learning.

I hope that you all had a lovely half term with your families and enjoyed the Health and Happiness activities. Here are the learning activities for today. Have fun!!

1. Owl Babies

Listen to and enjoy the reading of Owl Babies here:

Listen to the story again, this time pausing to talk about what happens on each page.

Questions you might like to discuss may include: How many owl babies were there? What were their names? What did they think might have happened to their mother? How do you think they were feeling? What did Bill keep saying all the way through the story? What was your favourite part of the story? Why?

I would like you to draw or paint the three owl babies.

Can you label them with their names? Can you write a sentence about each of the owl babies?  (Please encourage your child to use their phonics to help them with their spelling.)

2.  Maths: The Snail and the Whale

White Rose: Please go onto the White Rose website and begin on Summer term Week 6 (1st June)

3. RE:

This term we are going to be thinking about the Church as the family of God.

Do you remember the names of any of Jesus’ friends?

Jesus’ friends told everyone the Good News about Jesus and lots of people listened. They wanted to be like Jesus and do the things that He did. Watch the video clip about Peter and the other believers.

Cut out some pictures of people from magazines or draw pictures of different people. Write the heading: ‘We are all part of God’s Family’

Can you remember what the early Christians did together? Can you try to do these things too?

Today’s specific activities:

1. Talk for Writing: This week we have another story from Talk for Writing, “The Amazing Adventures of Max”. Max is a dog who needs Reception’s help to complete different reading and writing challenges. I hope you find these fun!

2.  Sum Dog: This weeks activity is a little tricky! I know that you will love the challenge, Can you count more and less within 20? Good luck earning those coins! You are all doing a great job!

3. RE: As we reach the end of the half term, I would like to see what you can remember about the Easter celebration. Please log into your Purple Mash account and complete this weeks 2do. You will find a booklet with five pages; Palm Sunday, the last supper, the crucifixion and the resurrection. Can you draw a picture on each page to show me what you can remember about each part of the Easter story. On the final page I would like you to think about the disciples and the special job that Jesus gave them. Can you draw a picture to show different ways that the disciples have taught us to be followers of Christ?

It states that it is suitable for Years 1 and 2, however, our children will really benefit from practising these fundamental skills, particularly during this final term in Reception. 1. PE: Today why not head out on a family bike ride? Or if you loved the challenge last week, this week you could try a running challenge: Who can run whilst keeping a sheet of paper on their tummy without it falling down? You could create a family race once you have had a little practise, or see how long you can keep it on for without. You could even turn this into a mini investigation to see if the type or size of paper makes a difference to your success… I look forward to seeing your photographs.
