Our Year 1 class will be performing at Marine Hall on Tuesday 11th March. We are super excited with what we have put together and cannot wait to share it with you. There are 10 schools who will be taking part. The children will be transported to and from Fleetwood by coach, but tickets are now live for you to book. Click on the button below to book your seats.

Tickets are allocated by Marine Hall and the Wyre and Fylde Sports Partnership - we have no control over those. Last year there was some families who were not successful in getting tickets and we put on a coffee morning tea dance in the school hall for all. We will do this again this year too.

Family Mass - Sunday 1st December

On Sunday 1st December, we will have our second family mass in church. Our first family mass was so well attended; thank you to everyone who came. This Mass will be extra special as it is the first Sunday of Advent - what a lovely way to start it together.

The children who will be directly involved in the Mass on Sunday are on the PDF below. If your child’s name isn’t listed, they will be involved, just sat with you taking part in the mass. Those children who are in the choir, will be sat in the choir loft with the parish choir. The readers and offertory children can sit with their parents and come up when it is there turn for involvement. Staff will be present too to support.

For the homily, as with every homily on the 1st Sunday of Advent, there will be a letter read out written by Bishop Paul. Having been visited by Bishop Paul this year, it will be special for the children to hear directly from him in a letter.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 1st December. Following mass, there is the monthly coffee and craft club at the Parish Centre. Please do attend if you are able to.

Football Tournament - Tuesday 5th October

Next Tuesday, there is a football tournament being held for A teams across Fylde, ran by the Schools Sports Partnership. We have decided to enter our team.

The tournament will be held on Tuesday 5th November from 12.30pm - 4.00pm at AKS on the fields. All parking needs to take place off site on either King Edward Promenade or Inner Promenade.

The children will have their lunch before leaving for the tournament, please collect your child at 12.30pm from school and take them to AKS. Mr Nay and Mr Cornwell will accompany the children there. Please could you let Mr Corwell know who is collecting your child, if it is not you, their parent. They need to be in their school football kit, shin pads and football boots and plenty of layers for this chilly weather. Please ensure that they have plenty of water and snacks for the afternoon.

The children, staff and parents are representing our school on the day, we need to ensure that we are respectful to all there.

The boys playing in the tournament are:

Archie, Liam, Benjamin, Ben, Rafe, Lorenzo, Logan, Rex,

Where does the light come from in your life? - Castlerigg Day 2

This has been a key message for us today at Castlerigg - Where does the light come from in your life? Yesterday was all about how we shine our light and today, reflecting on others and what we are grateful for in our lives.

Before bed last night, we had the most incredibly experience - night time prayer. The chapel here at Castlerigg is the old stable building, which is perfect as we prepare for the arrival of Jesus this Christmas. Daisy, the youth worker here, took us through a section of prayer and used the story of Narnia to illustrate it. Here she compared the character of Aslan to Jesus Christ, who too sacrificed himself for the good of his friends. It was incredibly moving and it took me a while to recover after; as you can tell from the images below. We then snuggled up and listened to a bedtime story from Lily. A rather lovely end to our first day.

This afternoon we headed off to the lake for some much needed reflection and fresh air. The children found out about places of interest in Keswick, headed to Derwent Water to skim stones then wandered to Fitz Park for some time together. It was so lovely to take in the views of the lake and spend some time in God’s world. The children were great.

After a delicious tea of pizza, wedges, salad and fruit, we are now getting ready to settle down for mass in the chapel. The children have written bidding prayers and are ready to sing.

Enjoy your night and we will see you tomorrow. We are departing at 2pm so should be back at school for 4pm - we will keep you posted!

Autumn 2 Extra-Curricular Clubs and Opportunities.

Please click on the button below to see what is available this half term and what your child can sign up for. As always, we will rotate options throughout the year to give all children access, whilst also looking at the competitions taking place. If you child attends the All Stars Wrap Around Care at school and would like to take part in the clubs, please still complete the form so that we can amend registers. Children will be able to attend All Stars before of after the clubs.

We are tweaking what we offer through Judo Education and now offering it as a permanent club where the children will compete and grade. This is really exciting and a lovely development for our school. The children who sign up will be the same children throughout the rest of the year. This will be run direct through Judo Education.

It is lovely that our choir is back on with Miss Woodend as we approach Christmas. Every Thursday, from the second week back, Miss Woodend will be leading a group of children from Years 4, 5 & 6. We are so excited to see what you do! This will then lead into the Big Sing Festival in Spring.

Please sign up to the clubs using the buttons below.

Year 6 Dance Festival

Historically, the dance festival has always been operated across Year 5 & 6, sometimes Year 4, but this year, we are just doing it with Year 6. With Mrs Harrison being our dance specialist, we want to maximise her time - whilst also giving the children a really special experience. We have never used 30 children before, but this is the year, and seeing how much they have enjoyed Shakespeare in recent years; I think they will love it. Below you will find all of the information regarding the performance and when it will be - Tuesday 26th November . Tickets for it go on sale today at midday - these will be direct from The Winter Gardens. The button below will take you to their website.

The theme this year is magic - which we know will inspire them all - and just have fun!

Family Mass - Sunday 6th October

On Sunday, we will have our first family mass in church. Family mass takes place every Sunday at 9.30am, but we are now wanting to involve the children more in this - which is just lovely. I understand that not everyone will be able to come, you all have commitments, this is just another opportunity if you choose too.

The children who will be directly involved in the Mass on Sunday are above on the PDF. If your child’s name isn’t listed, they will be involved, just sat with you taking part in the mass. Those children who are in the choir, will be sat in the choir loft with the parish choir. The readers and offertory children can sit with their parents and come up when it is there turn for involvement. Staff will be present too to support. We can then choose different children for readings, choir and offertory at our next mass in December, and throughout the year.

Sometimes, those families with children sit towards the back of church, but Father Peter will be addressing his homily to all of the children in the congregation so please do come a little bit closer to be part of that. There are 14 children making up our choir, so you should really be able to hear them!

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Following mass, there is the monthly coffee and craft club at the Parish Centre. Please do attend if you are able to.

Annual Flu Vaccination

This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and can cause serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of Flu. There may be a rebound in Flu levels this coming winter following low levels in the past 2 years. The vaccination is free and is a quick, simple, painless spray up the nose. Our vaccinations in school will take place on Monday 14th September.

Please complete the online consent form.

If you DO NOT wish your child to be vaccinated for whatever reason please complete the form stating NO and the reasons.

All Stars - Sessions and Payment Information

What a brilliant week we have had with the new All Stars Club in school. It is always daunting setting something new up, especially when the one at St Thomas’s was so successful, but I think we have made a really good start - and I cannot thank the staff enough for what they have done. The children are great and are giving us more ideas about what they would like to do. I am sure that it will continue to evolve over the next term. Some of our sessions are already fully booked - which is just wonderful!

As we are a new club, and could only register as of the 1st September, things are taking a little while to finalise. Things like being a tax free childcare provider is in process; we are just waiting for our registration number. So here are a few pointers for you:

  • Mrs Nel is in the process of working out what each child needs to pay for the club. This will be put on Parent Pay this week. We have decided to charge half-termly, rather than termly, to give families greater flexibility and to also ensure that you are being charged for the sessions that you will be attending over the half-term. Payment will still need to be made at the beginning of each half-term so that costs for the club can be covered. If you are not paying via Parent Pay, and instead via a different method, please just send an email to Mrs Nel. You will be able to see via Parent Pay what you owe for each half-term. This will be smoother going forward. The summer holidays and being a new provider has stalled this.

  • One of the main drivers for bringing All Stars here is so that children can access before and after school extra-curricular sessions. Now that the timetable has been finalised, you need to let Mrs Nel know by email whether your child will not be attending All Stars due to them attending another club in school. For example, if you have signed your child up for multi-skills and they are arriving at school at 8am, then you can relinquish your All Stars place for that morning and you will not be charged. However, if you child arrives at school at 7.45am for All Stars, and then they go into the club at 8am, we will need to reserve payment for their space. Please can you let Mrs Nel know by email if your child is attending a sports club for the specified time, therefore will not need an All Stars place. I hope this makes sense. If you can do that ASAP, then costings can be calculated.

All payments will be on Parent Pay by Friday of this week.

Please continue to bare with us. Some of the set up is beyond our control and we are waiting on other organisations to send information to us. We will continue to communicate with you throughout. Please do ask any questions if you have them and we will get back to you when we can.
