Cricket and Athletics Update

It is certainly very busy in school at the moment, and the notice that there will be further industrial strikes has complicated matters a little more. The announcement that industrial action will take place on the 5th and 6th of July has meant that transition days for high-school and sporting events have been rearranged; some schools can now not take part.

CRICKET

After much deliberation, the cricket tournament for this Friday will go ahead at Kirkham Cricket Club. The following children have been chosen to represent the school:

Year 6: Isabella, Abi, Jack, Keifer, Arthur, Jacob O

Year 5: Owen, Stanley, Edi and Charlie

The afternoon is due to run from 1pm -4pm, however, the nature of cricket may mean that this is shorter. The children who have been selected need to be collected from school at 12.20pm and taken to the event. They will have their lunch before they go. If you have a problem with transport, please do let us know in school and we can problem-solve it together. The children will need to be in full Our Lady PE kit with drinks and snacks.

ATHLETICS - Thursday 6th July at AKS

The athletics is a little more complicated as the LSA Transition Day for Year 6 children has had to be moved to the 6th because of the industrial action. There is an awful lot of Year 6 children in our cluster of schools now attending. Some schools have already withdrawn from this event because of circumstances beyond their control. Watch this space, as soon as I know what is happening, I will update this blog in the next day or two.

Swimming Gala Information

Apologies for this coming out a little later than planned, I needed to confirm the logistics with the swimming pool.

So, you will need to bring your child to Palatine Swimming Pool for 8.45am on Friday morning. Some parents combine and share lifts if there is other children that need dropping off at school first. If the children could come ready in their costumes, then it is the quickest change when they get there.

Can the children have in their bags:

Swimming hat, towel, hair brush and lots of water. Please ensure that they have their uniforms in their bags for after the event to change into.

Parents are encouraged and welcomed to stay and support - the more the better.

We are hoping that the gala should be finished around 12pm. At this point the children will get changed and then be needed to be dropped back off at school ready for them to have their lunch there. If another parent is bringing your child back to school, please can you email Mrs Gregan and let her know.

Reception Multi-Sports Club

Mr Nay will be running an after school club for reception on Tuesdays, starting next week, from 3.30 - 4.15pm in school. There is only a set number of places available, but do not worry. If there is a lot of children who want to take part, we will split the group into two and run another session next half term. The club will really support the children and continue to help their physical development.
