Year 4 Weekly blog 10th November 2023 "Keep my soul in peace before you Lord."

November 10, 2023 angela lyons

It has been a week of deep reflection in Year 4. In RHE this week, we have been thinking about how we can deal with tricky feelings such as frustration, anger and worry. We learned we can have strategies to be resilient to these feelings - one of the best ways is to think about what we can be thankful for instead. In our worships we have been thinking about having a peaceful moment with God each day, where we breathe deeply and are thankful for the gift of our life.

In maths this week we have moved on to understanding place value with 4 digit numbers. We have been breaking up 1000 to see what it is composed of. We have also in our mastering number sessions been studying doubles and how they relate to multiplication.

We have continued our novel ‘Charlotte’s Web’ which has seen us learning the art of persuasion. Wilbur is still going to be killed at Christmastime unless we persuade Mr Zuckerman otherwise in our persuasive letters! Be prepared for some very persuasive children at home!

In history this week, we have learned all about the Nile River and how crucial it was to the early Egyptian civilisation. Children worked brilliantly in pairs to type a factsheet all about the Nile.

Here are some pictures of us at worship, work and play:

Notices

First Aid - Please do not be alarmed if you receive a text message about your child having a bump to the head. This is now standard procedure at our school - just to make sure there is no miscommunication and you definitely know about it at home and can look out for any signs of concussion. If it was a more serious injury, we would always phone you. You will also receive a letter but there is now no return form to complete.

Pyjama day

Next Friday, for children in need children can come to school wearing pyjamas and bring a (normal sized) teddy. Please bring in a donation of £1

The Great Our Lady Bake off - Friday 8th December

On this day, families can bake a cake for an entry fee of £3. Each class will decide on a winner and there is a prize! We will be inviting parents in this afternoon from 2:00-3:00 for coffee and to sample some of the bakes!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Lyons, Miss Hennessey, Mrs Carter and Mrs Grey
