Year 2 homework to be handed in Tuesday 7th (Bank Holiday Monday)

Thank you for engaging with the optional extra home learning - a number of children have arrived in class with an analogue wrist watch. I have been listening to them and I can see that they have already begun to understand which hand is which - in science today Luca was working on an i-pad and informed me that the time showed it was almost hometime and we had to stop!

PLEASE HAND IN HOMEWORK BOOKS EVERY WEEK - even handwriting and spelling practice should be there each week and it helps us to celebrate all work.

READING

We ensure that every child quizzes each week. This allows our system to collect data on how well the child is progressing. We have needed to chase a few children in this regard. Please read their reading book from school so that we can monitor and celebrate in class - Thank you

MATHS

Working through the Story Mode on Numbots. Please encourage your child to engage with Numbots as much as possible. I can see how much time the children spend engaged. There is a clear relationship between those trying their hardest to move through the levels and their confidence with fluency/automaticity in maths lessons. I thought you might find this very short video useful - it explains how Numbots helps the children to master the maths and have rapid recall (automaticity). When a child can do this it reduces brain overload - it is a game changer.
