And here is our timetable for today!

Brain breaks.PNG

At this moment in time, due to the nature of the circumstances, online learning is the only way that I can record and deliver lessons. I am aware that we are all spending time on computers and devices, much more than we usually would. This week I want to see photographs of you taking screen breaks. I have put some ideas above about what you could do…but this is important. Make sure you give yourself breaks during the day and relax your brains.

Clockwork Reading Groups

As we have one section of Clockwork left to read, I would really like to hear your opinions on the book so far and your predictions for our final part. On Wednesday 27th January (this Wednesday), I would like to hold 15 minute Zoom meetings in small groups for a book discussion. Here are the groups and the times of your book meeting with me. I will send out Zoom invitations to your Purple Mash emails on Tuesday.

This will be a good opportunity to really discuss the book and to outline our writing unit that is coming up.

English - What is a newspaper? Can you write a headline?

Today we start our writing unit which will feature alongside Clockwork. There are so many events that happen in Clockwork that we can write about.

English Learning Tasks

  1. Visit CBBC Newsround and write down some headlines that grab your attention – why do they stand out to you?

  2. Think about Clockwork – brainstorm all of the events that have happened so far in the book that would be newsworthy.

  3. .Choose four events and write 4 headlines that include: alliteration, rhyme, pun, humour.

FIRST NEWS

First News is a children’s newspaper. I have briefly explained it in the video and then there are two issues for you to read and enjoy. Which headlines stand out to you? Collect them in your book to magpie at a later date. I have created a new blog on Purple Mash - can you share your favourite articles in the blog and explain why?

MATHS - Multiplying Fractions. Fractions by a whole number

We have to know our tables really well for this next section of work….how well do you know yours?

10 minutes on TT Rockstars please to get warmed up - GO! I have emailed you with your heat map. It shows your data from Times Table Rockstars - which times tables are you finding too hot?

Task 1 - Fluency. Watch the video and complete your fluency on Purple Mash today.

Task 2 - There are two tasks to complete via Purple Mash. Stop the lesson at the correct point and complete the work set.

Geography - UK Coastlines

We have all been to the beach, we are so lucky to live where we do live. Where is you favourite coastal location? Is it one that you have been on holiday to? Or is it the one where you live?

Where is your favourite beach? Can you find an image of it and then create your own artwork that is inspired by the photo? It can be a digital piece of artwork, collage, painting or drawing…you choose! I have set you a To Do on Purple Mash incase you want to use digital.

French

Can you follow the lesson and learn about school in French?
