It’s hard to believe that I am writing the final blog of the half term! Where has the time gone? This term has certainly been different and not without it’s challenges, but I really couldn’t be prouder of each and every child in Year 2! Everyone has been on their own unique learning journey and my, what a journey it’s been! You’ve problem solved, gritted your teeth and worked incredibly hard. The standard of the work produced has been great and that’s down to your focus and determination. Most importantly, you’ve all remained so positive and have spoken to me when needed.

The work completed this week has been INCREDIBLE! I still can’t quite believe how much we are managing to get through and the continued enthusiasm for learning is amazing.

Well, I think this week has been the best one of remote learning YET! The enthusiasm oozing from both home and school is amazing and the work produced is brilliant. We’ve fully got our teeth stuck into TT Rockstars now, and my, what fun it is! If you haven’t yet managed to get yourself logged on at home, please do. Already, just after one week, the children are so much more confident on some of their tables and are keen to learn more.

What a great week of learning we have had in Year 2! I have been so impressed by your Purple Mash skills this week and how confident you are becoming at handing in your work. I know that many of you have had to be ‘Don’t Give Up’ Sadie Spiders when technology might not have worked just quite how we would have liked, but you have all stuck with it and had a go! I can’t wait until we are back in school all together when we can use our new computer skills to showcase our super learning.

What another jam packed week it has been! I have continued to be blown away by the amount of work produced by both the children in and out of school. Once again, thank you for all of the lovely photographs and keeping me up to date with all of the learning and progress at home. Don’t forget to send photographs of the children in the pictures too - I can then pop these on here for our friends to see what we have all been up to.

WOW - what a week! Our first day back after the Christmas holidays already seems a distant memory as we have adjusted to the news sprung upon us on Monday evening! The children all returned to school as enthusiastic and eager as ever, and we were all looking forward to the term ahead. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be, but already the children have shown just what resilient and strong little people they truly are! Whether you have been working in school or at home, I am incredibly proud of your achievements so far and how well you have adjusted to this new situation that we find ourselves in.

Well … Christmas is here, and what a term it’s been! I couldn’t be more proud of the children. They have adapted to new school routines seamlessly and have taken everything in their stride. Being together with only our class bubble hasn’t always been easy, but the children have shown what resilient and kind young people they are. I also want to say a huge thank you to you, our Year 2 families! You have been so supportive in the strangest of times and your children have continued to grow.

With the Christmas holidays looming, we have spent many of our class prayer and liturgy sessions reflecting upon this special time and what we can do in order to prepare for the birth of Jesus. We have really enjoyed sharing Year 6’s Advent liturgies together - they are guiding our prayer beautifully each week. Thank you Year 6! In RE, we also became Nativity song writers. We listened to one of our favourites ‘Don’t Worry Mary’ and picked out the important messages from within the song. We then used these ideas to help write our own verses, with many children showing such confidence whilst performing their songs to the class. You are growing into such deep thinkers Year 2!

This week has been a lovely one in class. We have spent time reflecting upon the period of Advent and what we are going to try and give back as part of this special time. The children wrote their own Advent promises which are now being beautifully displayed in the school hall. As we have been unable to put on our usual Nativity productions, we have also been busy practising for a Nativity performance with a twist. Look out for this on the school website next week!

You are working so incredibly hard Year 2 and each week is just flying by!
This week in English, the children were introduced to our new focus story ‘The Great Fairy Tale Disaster’. We have really enjoyed reading the beginning of the story, picking out our favourite vocabulary and learning to retell it using story maps and actions. The class have already begun to think what might happen in their own fairy tale disasters and who might be involved. I can’t wait to see more of those Creative Kiki Chameleons as we begin writing in the next couple of weeks Year 2!

Well done Year 2 - it has been another successful week of learning in class. Tuesday was our first Online Safety Day in school. This day always provides time for us to just stop and think about how we use technology and how we can ensure that we are being safe whilst doing so. We focused on our digital footprint and discussed all of the different software, apps and games that we enjoy using both in school and home. The children found it interesting to learn that everything they access can leave a footprint behind which can often be found by others. Technology is such a wonderful tool for both enjoyment and learning, but it must be used safely and appropriately.

The weather may have grown a little colder and darker this week, but this hasn’t stopped Year 2 from working hard and reaching those goals! All of the adults working within Year 2 continue to be amazed by the children’s resilience, enthusiasm and compassion as we continue our learning journeys in these uncertain times. We are all so lucky to be learning in our little bubble and I am so proud of what the children are achieving each day.

Welcome Back! The children returned back to school on Monday full of enthusiasm and ready for the new term ahead. After finding their new learning spaces and discovering what their new class job for the term will be, it was time to get back into learning. We enjoyed watching an assembly created by Year 6 which brought last term’s virtues ‘grateful and generous’ to a lovely close

Well, what can I say? What an amazing first half term we have had in Year 2! The children have thrown themselves into every challenge and have worked incredibly hard. I sometimes find it hard to believe that the children have been only been in Year 2 for such a short space of time. Even with the uncertainty and worries around us all at this time, the class have come together as one and have shown just what we can achieve when we all work co-operatively together.

What a week Year 2! It has certainly whizzed past with the amount of learning we have got through!
In RHE we continued to think about ourselves this week, with us paying particular attention to our body parts. It was so lovely to hear the children celebrating their favourite body parts and giving reasons as to why. Amongst others, the children were grateful for their legs for running, their eyes for seeing and their hands for making!

The children have continued to amaze all of the adults working within Year 2 this week and we all can’t quite believe how much learning we are continuing to get through each day. I don’t know about the children, but I certainly need a lie down when half past three comes around!

That’s yet again another fantastic week of learning completed by the children in Year 2! In maths, the children can’t quite believe that they have finished their first topic of place value and have now begun their addition and subtraction learning. They have made a brilliant start and have used both part part whole models and bar models to create addition and subtraction number sentences. They can’t wait to take this learning even further next week - this class certainly love a challenge!

I feel as though I am repeating myself each week, but once again, the children have been an absolute delight! We are having such fun as a class team and the children are demonstrating just how focused and how enthusiastic they are. They are all so eager to grow their brains and are an absolute pleasure to teach.
