Year 1 Homework 8.12.23

LEARNING THE SONGS

We are practising these songs regularly in school but it would really help if you can practise them at home too, we have been learning some actions see if they can remember them. The songs are easy to remember and very catchy - I hope you enjoy singing along too! The Lyrics are attached too so you can practise together.

Reading

We understand in the run up to Christmas it is very busy but if you can please read as much as possible at home. Books should have been changed today, due to the cake sale and our nativity practise a few may have been missed so I do apologise if yours has not. I will check all the books on Monday

Year 1 Homework 18.10.23

Assembly (ongoing)

We have enjoyed watching the assemblies this half term, ours will be on Thursday 16th November. I asked the children what they would like their assembly to be about and they said Mary Seacole. We have loved learning about her and are excited to share our knowledge with the whole school. I have sent home lines for you to practise over the holidays, I have highlighted their part and put the line before so they know when it will be their turn to speak.

Please can you also practise the song ‘He’s got the Whole World in his Hands’ we have been singing this in class with actions and I will put a link below to practise at home:

Reading

I have put some extra books in for you to read over the holidays. We have worked so hard this half term with our reading so please read as much as you can over the holidays to maintain this wonderful progress.

Optional homework

It would be lovely to hear about your half term holidays to share during snack and chat, so please draw some pictures, write a few sentences or stick pictures (or email to me) in your homework books.

Mrs Gregan’s half term challenge

Year 1 Homework 13.10.23

Reading Books

Please continue to read each day, little and often is best to start, the you can build it up. Some of the children are starting to quiz on their reading books. Use the bookmarks to help ask different questions about the story, can your child retell the story? These will help them answer a few questions on the quiz :).

Please bring your reading folders in every day so we can listen to your child read and change books.

We have loved reading Supertato this half term. My homework challenge is to create your own Supertato characters and give them names. There is a sheet either stuck in their homework book or in their reading folder.

Mary Seacole ongoing challenge

My homework challenge is to do some research about Mary Seacole that you can share with the class. You can be as creative as you like, think about how you might display, present or share this research in class. You might want to build a model to help, you could draw a picture and write some interesting facts like a fact file, or you might even want to make a video like a news report!

Please bring your research into school on Monday

I am excited to see what you discover.
