‘He will grow up to teach the world how to love.’
Follow that Star!
Wow what a Nativity! The children were amazing, there has been so much illness in the last few weeks, for some of the children they had only been on the stage once to practise. Miss Drummond even had a few parts but they carried on and stayed calm. Most importantly you could see how much fun we had, I loved seeing the joy on the children’s faces when they performed. The videographer said it was one of the best dress rehearsals he had ever seen and he goes to a lot of different schools.
Thank you for all of your support at home all the children knew their lines and delivered them with confidence. I have not stopped smiling all week and I know you all enjoyed watching your child perform.
We will make sure all children have a photo even if they have been off, we are also going to perform a few of our favourite songs to the residents at Clarence house so I will record them to put on the blog.
Conversation Starter:
What has been your favourite thing you have done this week?
What have we been learning this week:
Even though we have been busy performing we have still managed to continue our learning.
On Monday we arrived to school to find our classroom had changed, some reindeers had escaped and come into our classroom. They decorated it and we have an Elves workshop. Santa sent me a video of the reindeers in our classroom and he left us an advent calendar and some Christmas books to unwrap and read each day. I told the children I would put the video on the blog enjoy :).
We have loved our workshop, we have been busy wrapping presents, writing cards and gift tags for all our frineds.
Reception Plea: If you have any old cards, wrapping papper, gift tags, Christmas decorations, etc we would love to add them to our workshop.
I will always try my best to ensure there are opportunities for you to come into school on days you are free. If you haven’t please could you fill in the form below. If you have any questions please email me.
Phonics: Sound mats have gone home. Please can you make sure they are in your child’s folder so we can tick the sounds your child knows and let you know which sounds to practise at home. I have made RWI QR codes for you to watch the videos at home. They are in your child’s book bag and I have attached them below.
Reading Books: I understand it has been a busy few weeks so please could you fill in this form to let me know if you want your books to be changed on Monday or if you are happy to keep them for another week. It would be helpful if you could let me know if you would like any extra books over the holidays or if you are happy with one.
Maths: This week we have focused on positional language, please can you practise at home asking your child if they can they put an object…. on, under, next to, between, infront of, behind.
PE: We played team games, in our house teams, one house team had to throw a bib at a child and if it hit them they were frozen. We had so much fun.
This week we have made our Christmas cards for the residents at Clarence house, they look great and we are excited to give them out on Wednesday.
On Thursday afternoon Year 6 came to our classroom and half the class started our Advent Pilgrimage, while the other half enjoyed spending time with their buddies in Reception. . We finished our afternoon together in the hall singing away in a manger. The other half will start the Advent Pilgrimage next week and we will all finish together for our final station in the chapel.
We had a lovely end to the week, with birthday cake made by one of our mum’s. We enjoyed eating it at snack time and wished our friend a very happy birthday.
Optional Homework Challenges:
It is wonderful that the children are so excited about their learning and to see how keen they are to continue this outside of school. We welcome any opportunity to share these learning experiences with you at home, which is why we have created ‘optional challenges’ across each year group which can be explored over this Autumn 2 half term.
These challenges link to the wider area of our curriculum, there are some activities to help with retrival and some with topics that are coming up.
Below you will find the optional challenges linking to the topics and areas of learning that we will be exploring this half term. These fun challenges are designed to cover a range of skills without being stressful or time consuming for you at home. You are welcome to complete them in any order you wish and it would be lovely to see pictures or examples of things that the children have enjoyed at home.
As always, thank you for your continued support.

Show and Tell:
Please look below to see which day your child can share their show and tell news. We love to celebrate each child’s achievements in class. So we use show and tell as an opportunity to share things that they are proud of, or to share something that is important to them. Great show and tell examples are: sharing photos, bringing in certificates or medals, a souvenir from a trip out or something that they have made at home.
Important Reminders:
Travelling Nativity: each day a child will take home our travelling nativity, you will receive a text if you child is taking the nativity home. There is a book inside where you can add photos or draw pictures and then return it the next day. You can email any photos to me and I can share them with the class.
Christmas Cards: to help look after the environment if you would like to give Christmas cards, please could you give one to the class, we will display these cards in our classroom.
Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.
PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Wednesday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.Art T-shirt
Please can you bring in an art T-shirt, if you haven’t already, these help us keep uniforms as clean as possible.Jumpers: please can you check that your child has brought the right jumper or PE jacket home, they can easily get mixed up when bags are being packed, there are a few missing in class, thank you.
