‘Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.’

Maya Angelou

We reflected on the events of Easter Sunday and why it is the most important day of the year. We discussed what we believe about Jesus and created our own class Easter garden for our worship area.

Conversation Starter

Each week I will give you a question that I would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over the dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

We have been thinking about how we can be a witness this week and witness others sharing the news of Jesus.

Who did you see being disciples of Christ?

How can we be like them?

What have we been learning this week……

Our handwriting is improving, thank you for the hard work at home. I have loved seeing the excitment the children now have about their handwriting and they are enjoying using letter join in school and at home.

Science/DT: Our Science and DT link together this half term, we learnt about fruits and vegetables and how we can identify fruits. The children had a range of food on their table to investigate and identify if they were a fruit or not a fruit. We discovered that courgettes were a fruit and snap peas are both the shell is classed as a fruit and the pea inside is a vegetable. We found out that a pomegranate is one of the oldest fruits! We then tried some of the different fruits and drew a detailed observational picture of an apple.

In English we made fact files about Debi Gliori, to help us remember the information. We were given a sentence in groups, we worked together to make a text maps and retold our sentences with actions to the rest of the class. We have started to learn about Beatrix Potter, we thought of some questions that we would like to find out about her. I have been really impressed with our work this week, we have been challenging ourselves by adding pre-cursive ‘a’s, d’s, c’s and o’s’ in our writing.

Maths: Mrs Hotchkiss joined us for our maths lesson on Monday and she was very impressed. We had seven counters and in pairs made seven in different ways, we wrote the four equations, discussing the addends and the sum and even drew cherry diagrams!

We have also been creating our own number stories such as First there were 5 ducks, then 3 ducks flew away, now there are 2 ducks. Can you make your own up at home? We also had to work out the missing number, First there were 7 sweets, then James ate some, Now there are 4 sweets.

Computing: we looked around our classroom at all the different technology we use, I have set the children a homework challange to take pictures or draw technology they have at home. While we had the ipads out we learnt how to log onto Numbots, once again it was lovely to hear the children having a go at home and coming in the next day to tell me how many coins they had won.

Please note It will be a full day trip leaving school at 9:30am and returning by 3pm, you will need to bring a packed lunch and mobile phones can not be used around the children or to take photos of the children. There will be school iPads and photos will be uploaded to the blog.

The cost of the trip will be £15, this will be on parent pay next week.

Lunch Orders:

Please click on the button and fill in the form to let me know if you are bringing in a packed lunch or if you would like to order a school packed lunch.

  • Please can you bring in water bottles every day and remember to bring in reading folders so we can quiz and change books.

  • Polite reminder that all children across school should bring water in their bottles and not juice. This is something that we discuss regularly in school as part of our discussions about healthy snacks and healthy lunches. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snack, we always have fruit avalible too.

  • Please can you bring/keep spare uniform in bags, as the weather has been wet recently, children have fallen over in puddles and it can sometimes be tricky finding spare uniform for them in the right size.
